State Senate District 41
​Ross Thomas

Ross lives in Columbus with his wife, Amy and their three children.  He was raised on a farm in Jennings County and is a 1988 graduate of Jennings County High School.  He earned his bachelors degree in Political Economy from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1992 and his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis in 1994. Ross has been a practicing attorney in Indiana since 1995 and owns and operates his own law firm based in Indianapolis.

Ross is the County Chairman of the Bartholomew County Democratic Party.  He a member of the board for Columbus Youth Baseball and is a long time baseball coach  for the Columbus Parks & Rec. Youth Baseball Program.  He is a member of the Legal Redress Committee of the Columbus Chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Legal Committee of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.

State Representative District 59
​Josh Burbrink

Josh is a sixth-generation Hoosier and the fourth generation of his family to serve Bartholomew County. His great-grandfather Henry Schulz was Democratic County Chairman in the 1940s; his grandfather Marvin Burbrink served on the 4-H Fair Board, the Soil and Water Conservation District, and the county Rural Fire Advisory Board.

Josh Burbrink has served the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter since 2017, and two years in his fellow firefighters named him Firefighter of the Year. He now serves as Secretary of the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Company board, where he sees firsthand how thin the budgets are for the volunteer departments that protect rural Indiana. 

By trade, Josh is the Business Intelligence Director at Mainstream Fiber Networks, bringing high-speed broadband to the rural corners of Indiana that the large providers skipped: delivering, in practice, what those communities were promised for years. 

Josh is President of the Friends of the Bartholomew County Public Library, having previously served as its Vice President and Secretary. His wife Rachel is a librarian at the Bartholomew County Public Library, and the family, including their young daughter, lives on a small hobby farm in Harrison Township. That work reflects his conviction that public education and community programs are worth defending. 

Driven by compassion and cooperation, Josh aligns himself with the Democratic platform's emphasis on helping people in times of need rather than widening divides. As a candidate for House District 59, he means to carry those principles into the State House.

State Representative District 73
​Allen Miller

I’m not a politician. I’ve never run for office before, and I’m still getting over the fact that I’m actually doing this. It’s been a lot of late nights, zoom calls, and breaking out of my comfort zone. But I want to bring Better Outcomes for the State of Indiana.

I’ve lived in Indiana my whole life, aside from 4 years of college.
I was raised on a small farm outside Pendleton, IN – the one with the horses on the barn roof. I learned the value of hard work, and saw the long hours and hard days that come with farming. Then my parents moved to the west side of Indianapolis, where I got to experience a truly wonderful range of cultures among my classmates.
I went to college in eastern Ohio, where I bumped into a pretty girl on my way out of German class, and the rest is history… Since college, I’ve worked as a technical writer, writing repair instructions for anything from airplane engines to hospital beds. My wife and I live in Greensburg with our two kids, and several cats.
I’ve watched for the last decade as life has gotten harder for the factory workers and farmers around me. I’ve watched our roads crumble from lack of maintenance. I’ve watched good teachers leave Indiana because they aren’t paid enough to live. I’ve watched Indiana become one of the lowest literacy states in the country. I’ve watched elected officials ignore a room full of people begging to be heard, and then vote for their own interests. I’ve watched my own bills go up and up, while my pay barely comes close to keeping up with the bills.
I’m done watching.
